Sabetha Bravos open 2019 campaign

The Sabetha Bravos opened up their 2019 campaign with a pair of games against the Kansas City Monarchs in Kansas City on Friday, May 31. The Bravos fell in the opening game 3-2 and also in the nightcap 14-3.

Game one

In the opening game, the Bravos were led at the plate by Vinicio Samayoa who went two for three with a double. Jose Marroquin was on the mound for the opener and pitched four innings surrendering two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking three batters. Brock Renter came on in relief and gave up just one hit. Diego Martinez closed out the game giving up one run on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Game two

In the nightcap, the Bravos used six pitchers to try to slow down the Monarchs who pounded out nine hits on their way to scoring 14 runs. Michael Colon opened up for the Bravos and was replaced in the first inning by Jonathan DeLeon after giving up two walks.

DeLeon pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with three strikeouts and four walks. Daisuke Yasui pitched 2-2/3 innings giving up eight runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Esutardo Amado pitched in one inning and gave up two runs with one strikeout and two walks. Brock Renter and Wade Witt closed out the game for the Bravos giving up just one hit. The Bravos were led at the plate by Eddie Pimentel who was two for three at the plate with a double.
