Bravos fall to Midwest A’s in series

The Sabetha Bravos took on the Midwest A’s in a two-game series on Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11. The A’s dominated the field in both games and the Bravos would come up short, falling 7-2 in game one and 14-4 in game two.

Game one

Game one – hosted by the Bravos – started off slow with both teams holding the other scoreless during the first two innings. The A’s got on the board first in the third with three runs scored on two base hits and a walk. The Bravos scored one run in the third and fourth, but never took over the lead. The A’s scored another three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Vinicio Samayoa, Eddie Pimentel, Wilkin Perez, Ivan Medina, Welinton Perez and Carlos Reynoso each collected hits during the game, while Wilkin Perez and C. Reynoso each scored runs for the Bravos. Cesar Paz tallied one RBI.

Jose Marroquin threw the first six innings for the Bravos. He surrendered three runs on three hits, while striking out six batters, and walking seven.

Marroquin was relieved by Daisuke Yasui, who threw the next 1-2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on five hits, while striking out one batter and walking one.

Wade Witt pitched the final 1-1/3 innings.

Game two

Game two – hosted by the Midwest A’s – saw scoring happen early when the Bravos scored two runs in the top of the first on a base hit and stolen base by Paz.

The A’s answered with 10 runs scored in the bottom of the first, which included a home run and grand slam. The A’s never let go of the lead and would claim the 14-4 win after just 6-1/2 innings.

Samayoa went two for four at the plate, tallying one run.

Michael Colon started on the mound for the Bravos, throwing the first inning. He allowed 10 runs on two hits while striking out one batter and walking six.

Colon was relieved by Estuardo Amado, who threw the final five innings. He allowed four runs on three hits, while striking out six batters and walking three.
