Bravos go 1-2 in series with Baldwin City

The Sabetha Bravos and the Baldwin City Blues met Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, for three contests. The Bravos went 1-2 during the series. The first two games were held on Friday, June 28, while the final game was held on Saturday, June 29.

Game one

The Blues held off a late run by the Bravos in the fifth inning, in which the Bravos managed three runs, but Baldwin City still won 7-4.

The big inning for the Sabetha Bravos came thanks to a single by Ivan Medina and a double by Welinton Perez. The Blues got on the board first in the first inning, with a home run on a 0-2 count that scored two runs. The Blues scored four runs in the second inning and another one in the third.

Cesar Paz and Welinton Perez each tallied two hits during the contest, while Welinton Perez also tallied two RBIs.

Brock Renter pitched the entire contest for the Bravos. He surrendered seven runs on 10 hits, while striking out eight batters and walking two.

Game two

The Blues took the 6-4 win over the Bravos in the nightcap. While both teams scored in the first inning, the Blues had the lead after scoring three runs in the first frame, while the Bravos only scored two.

Baldwin City scored another run in the third to extend their lead. Both teams scored two runs each in the fourth, and the Blues never gave up their lead.

Paz, Carlos Barrios, Wilkin Perez, Brandon Brewer, Edgar Tecu and Steven Oliva each tallied one hit during the game.

Daisuke Yasui threw the first 1/3 inning. He allowed three runs on three hits.

Wade Witt pitched the final 5-2/3 innings. He surrendered three runs on four hits, while striking out five batters and walking two.

Game three

The Bravos took the third game in walk-off fashion, due to a walk-off single at the end of the game to defeat Baldwin City. The Bravos trailed 15-14 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Carlos Reynoso singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Wilkin Perez went three for six during the contest — hitting one home run and one double, while Ivan Medina went three for five.

Jose Marroquin threw the first four frames for the Bravos. He surrendered eight runs on eight hits, while striking out four batters and walking two.

Marroquin was relieved by Estuardo Amado. He allowed fives runs on three hits, while walking one batter.

Diego Martinez came in on relief, throwing the final 4-2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out eight batters and walking two.

The Bravos won the third game 16-15.
