The Board of Brown County Commissioners met in regular session on Friday, Aug. 30, with the following members present: Chairman Keith Olsen, Dwight A. Kruse and Richard L. Lehmkuhl, and Brown County Clerk Melissa Gormley. County Attorney Kevin Hill was present for a portion of the meeting.
Olsen opened the meeting at 8:10 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all. Commissioner Lehmkuhl led the meeting with a prayer.
Gormley presented the agreement from Berry Tractor Supply for the purchase of the 2019 Superior Broom Sweeper to the commission for signatures. The total amount due is $56,279.
Commissioner Olsen discussed the KDOA permit for the culvert on Kingfisher Road.
Gormley presented the Extension budget for signatures.
The commissioners discussed Resolution 08-20 with County Attorney Kevin Hill. Hill suggested speaking with Emergency Director Don Pounds.

The board approved the Aug. 26 meeting minutes.
The commissioners voted to allow Oct. 4, 2019, to be a holiday for all county employees.
The Aug. 28 payroll was approved as follows: General, $69,599.35; Road and Bridge, $17,455.72; Election, $1,745.77; Technology, $889.31; Appraiser, $7,425.64; Noxious Weed, $1,714.25; ACC, $10,496.08; JJA Core, $10,141.99; Reinvestment Grant, $3,078.75; Services for Elderly, $2,511; Solid Waste, $4,145.50; Special MVT, $2,640.01; Employee Benefits FICA, $7,997.58; and Employee Benefits KPERS, $9,986.36. After State Unemployment/Workers Compensation of $228.78 and Insurance of $11,573.71 were taken out, the total was $138,024.82.
The Aug. 30 month-end claims were approved as follows: General, $84,247.43; Road and Bridge, $848,100.42; Special Machinery, $56,279; Health, $31,000; Historical Society, $4,375; Employee Benefit, $76,888.34; Election, $3,224.46; Extension Council, $8,320.83; Mental Health, $5,850; Developmental Services, $2,254.33; Technology Fund Clerk, $1,576.05; Appraiser, $1,313.68; Ambulance, $18,577.52; Noxious Weed, $1,527.19; Alcohol, $3,150.99; Diversion, $519.44; 911 SB50, $5,801.92; ACC, $2,174.45; JJCR, $4,601.72; Reinvestment Grant, $145.63; Services for Elderly, $3,589.53; Solid Waste, $35,006.35; Payroll, 211.59. The total was $1,198,735.87.
The next regular meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to the Labor Day holiday.
