Jays place three wrestlers at Holton

The Sabetha Bluejay wrestling squad journeyed to Holton on Saturday, Jan. 25, to compete in the 23rd annual Greg Sadowski Wrestling Tournament. The tournament featured 18 area teams, and the Jays finished the tournament with 59 points. Omaha Bryan High captured the tournament with 220 points, followed by Shawnee Heights with 205 and Gardner-Edgerton with 187.

The Jays placed three wrestlers in the tournament, with senior 170-pound Walker Lowdermilk capturing second place and senior 182-pound Colby Tinklin and junior 152-pound Kaden Dillon taking third place.

Lowdermilk won his first three matches in a dominating fashion, but lost a close match in the championship bout to finish in second.

Tinklin and Dillon both were defeated in the championship semifinals, but then battled back and won their final two matches to claim their third place medals.
