Accidents

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the Sabetha Police Department (PD) responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of 192nd and Old Highway 75. Kirk Keeler was operating a 1999 Buick when a break malfunction is believed to have occurred. Keeler’s vehicle went through the T intersection and came to rest in the field. No injuries were reported at the time of accident, and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, Sabetha PD took a report of hit and run near the intersection of Ninth and Virginia.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, Sabetha PD responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Fourth and Main. Derek Deters was operating a 2001 Chevrolet when it slid off the roadway into a wooden cable pole. Ice covered road conditions are believed to have played a role in the accident. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.

On Monday, Jan. 13, Sabetha PD responded to a one-vehicle accident in the 1,000 block of South 14th Street. A juvenile was operating a 2003 Ford when they lost control going into the ditch and ending on its side. Ice covered road conditions are believed to have played a role in the accident. The driver was checked at the scene by medical personnel.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, Sabetha PD responded to a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Eighth and Oregon. A juvenile was operating a 2003 Chrysler when it slid off the roadway and struck a barricade pole. Ice covered road conditions are believed to have played a role in the accident. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, Sabetha PD responded to a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Ninth and Main. Calvin McKenney was operating a 2001 Dodge when it slid and struck an unoccupied 2017 Chevrolet. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.

Cases

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, Sabetha PD took a report of harassment by telephone complaint. The case is under investigation in cooperation with an out-of-state agency.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, Sabetha PD took a report of an attempted criminal damage to property.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Sabetha PD took a report of criminal damage to property at the intersection of Sixth Street and 192nd Road.

On Thursday, Jan. 23, Sabetha PD took a report of a bad check, and reports have been forwarded on for prosecution.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, Sabetha PD arrested Joshua Hass, 27, of Sabetha for battery and disorderly conduct. Officers responded to a report of an altercation in the 200 block of North First Street. After a short investigation was made, Hass was taken into custody for the alleged crimes. Hass was transported and booked into the Nemaha County jail.

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Sabetha PD arrested Sissy Wilson, 36, of Oneida on a Sabetha Municipal warrant for failure to appear.
