Nemaha County Sheriff 2.3.2020
Jerry L. Lester, Jr., 50, of Oneida was arrested on Feb. 1 by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office on a Nemaha County warrant for felony theft in addition to a charge of obstruction apprehension of prosecution. Lester also is being held on a Placer County, Calif., warrant. Lester remains in custody.
At 2:34 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, Colby E. Tinklin, 17, of Sabetha was traveling east on Kansas Avenue near Sabetha, approximately 60 feet east of W Road, when he left the icy roadway and struck a utility pole. He was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
At 7:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, Caroline A. Young, 41, of Seneca was traveling southbound on North 11th Street near Spring Creek Drive near Seneca. She attempted to avoid a truck and trailer in the roadway driven by Adam R. Fleagle, 40, of Seneca, causing her to go into the east ditch and strike a mailbox. Young was driving a 2018 Ford Expedition, and Fleagle was driving a 2019 Ford pickup with a trailer. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
At 7:46 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, Brandi L. Meade, 36, of Centralia was traveling northbound on Kansas Highway 187, approximately 1/2 mile south of 128th Road, when she lost control on the icy roadway and slid into the ditch. She was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
At 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, Robert D. Ralph, 55, of Wetmore was traveling westbound on 128th Road, approximately 1/4 mile east of W4 Road, when he tried to follow the curve in the road near a bridge, and due to road conditions, his vehicle continued straight and into the creek. He was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
On Sunday, Feb. 2, Gage P. Palic, 17, of Baileyville was traveling northbound on F Road, and Nicholas C. Engelken, 17, of Seneca was traveling eastbound on 192nd Road. Palic failed to stop, and the vehicles collided in the intersection of F Road and 192nd Road. Palic was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, and Engelken was driving a 2000 Pontiac 4 door. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for injuries.
