Kevin Harbolt, 40, of Axtell was released on Sept. 7 on a $20,000 surety bond total for his Nemaha County cases. Court is set for Oct. 19 at 9:30 a.m. He was also released on a $10,000 surety bond for his Marshall County case. His court date in Marshall County is Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m.
Mickhail Davis, 33, of Lawrence was arrested by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office (NMSO) on Sept. 9 on a Edgerton Municipal warrant for failure to appear. She was released on the same day on a $250 cash bond. Court is set for Sept. 21 at 3 p.m.
At approximately 2:52 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, Kaleb P. Slater, 20, of Centralia was traveling eastbound on Kansas Highway 9 just east of Kansas Highway 187 when he struck a deer. He was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. Less than $1,000 damage was estimated.
At approximately 10:23 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, the NMSO received a report of a two-vehicle collision that had occurred on Q Road 0.35 mile south of 112th. A 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by Lawson Schmelzle, 16, of Seneca was traveling northbound on Q Road, and a 1989 Freightliner truck driven by Craig Nolte, 32, of Seneca was traveling southbound. Schmelzle’s vehicle went left of center striking the rear axle of Nolte’s Freightliner, then went off of the east side of the roadway and overturned. Schmelzle was pronounced dead at the scene. More than $1,000 in damage was estimated.
At approximately 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, David Nonnast, 45, of Sabetha was traveling north on Y Road 0.5 mile south of 168th when he struck a deer. Nonnast was driving a 2008 Toyota Tundra. More than $1,000 damage was estimated.
