District schools see decrease in enrollment
Prairie Hills USD No. 113 has seen an overall decrease in the amount of students enrolled in school in 2021-22 compared to the 2020-21 school year. Enrolled district-wide – based on the official Oct. 11 student count – are 1,073 students — a decrease of seven students.
The Sabetha campus saw an overall headcount decrease of one student in 2021-22 compared to 2020-21 — three students increased at Sabetha Elementary School (SES), three decreased at Sabetha Middle School (SMS) and one decreased at Sabetha High School (SHS).
The Wetmore Academic Center campus saw an overall headcount decrease of three students. Compared to 2020-21, Wetmore Elementary School (WES) saw four students decrease, and Wetmore High School (WHS) had a one student increase.
The Axtell Public School campus saw an overall headcount decrease of three students compared to the 2020-21 school year. Axtell Elementary School (AES) saw a decrease of six students, and Axtell High School (AHS) had an increase of three students.
Weighted Full Time Equivalency (FTE) — which takes into account a number of factors such as at-risk, special education, transportation and low or high enrollment — is the figure that determines what school districts receive for funding. Overall, USD 113 schools have decreased 10 FTE this school year compared to the last, from 1056.2 in 2020-21 to 1046.2 in 2021-22.
Sabetha’s weighting decreased 0.7 FTE from 767.2 in 2020-21 to 766.5 in 2021-22.
Axtell’s weighting decreased 4.8 FTE from 155 in 2020-21 to 150.2 in 2021-22.
Wetmore’s weighting decreased 4.5 FTE from 134 in 2020-21 to 129.5 in 2021-22.
