Brown County Genealogical Society: Free DNA program offered
Submitted by Greg Newlin
Join us for “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of DNA Testing” when expert Manhattan resident Jill Frese leads us down the garden path of this free-to-the-public subject at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Brown County Genealogical Society, 116 South Seventh Street, Hiawatha, across the street west from the Brown County Court House.
Frese will identify the available tests, their purposes, how to interpret their results and where this will lead you in your search for ancestral identity. Perhaps you do not know much about what is involved and therefore you’re afraid of being taken advantage of by the multitude of “Ancestry-In-Search-Ofs,” who are all too willing to take your money with little or no regard to whether you understand the process? Then, this is not only a great opportunity but it is also free for anyone in need of guidance.
