Sabetha PTO 10.1.18

Sabetha PTO met at the Sabetha Elementary School Library at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1. Present were President Kara Tramp, Vice President Jennifer Ploeger, Secretary Hannah Dettwyler, Treasurer Jeanelle Plattner, Miranda Young, Julinne Moore, Crystal Wedel, Anita Meyer, Annie Deters, Amber Deters and Principal Sara Toedman.

Minutes and agenda were approved as read. Plattner read the treasurer’s report. Dettwyler read the correspondence.

New Business

Meyer informed PTO that she has a thermal laminator to donate if someone could use it.

Principal Toedman shared that she is working with Wildwood Creations to create signage for the SES parking lot to remind drivers of the correct drop-off/pick-up procedures.

Tramp discussed changing the PTO meeting time to 6 p.m. during the fall and winter months. This time change was approved.

Old Business

Annie Deters presented her mock-up designs for the PTO sign. Members gave feedback on their sign preference and suggested a couple of changes. Annie Deters will bring the revised designs back for a final vote.

Committee Reports

Labels: Wedel reported $59 cut in Box Tops and $39 in Best Choice Labels. Second grade is in the lead. Information on collecting labels will be posted to the PTO Facebook page.

Bluejay Gear: Kara Tramp reported that 160 shirts were sold and all have been delivered.

Cake Raffles: Amber Deters reported that the first cake raffle is this Friday, Oct. 5. We still need help at the cake raffle during the wrestling match on Thursday, Jan. 24. One volunteer is needed for the raffle table and one donated cake (or other nicely decorated baked item) is needed.

Give to Grow: Give to Grow Day is the Friday after Thanksgiving from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. We will set up an early donation option and discuss this more at the next meeting.

Taco Feed: Meyer informed PTO that the Taco Feed is Dec. 7. The sign-up will be updated and sent out as time gets closer.

School Supplies: Young reported that the kindergarten mats have been delivered and everything is done. Training a new person to help with this committee and eventually take over as lead was discussed.

Classroom Enhancement Program: Amber Deters reported that the selection committee received 10 requests and was able to approve eight out of the 10. Items have all been ordered and most have been received.

Landscape Maintenance: Tramp reported that Jay Herrmann sprayed for dandelions and weeded the beds. Sign-ups for volunteers will go back out in the spring. Also, boulders are no longer needed as the dead plants were under warranty to be replaced.

Sunshine Program: Principal Toedman reported that they are fully stocked.

Classroom Parties: The first party is Oct. 31 (Halloween).

Spelling Bee: Schools are registered and the bee will be held on Jan. 4, 2019.

Early Release Treats: Sign-ups were sent out to the SMS and SHS schools for this year’s Early Release Fridays.

Holiday Giving Trees: Tramp reported that all cutouts have been ordered. The total came to $75.

Support Staff Appreciation: Nov. 14 is National Education Support Professionals Day. Lunch will be provided in the preschool room on Friday, Nov. 30. Plattner will confirm the date with SMS and SHS.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

The next PTO meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5.
