Shirley Longberg

Shirley Leta (Fiske) Longberg, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018.

She was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Soldier. She married Richard “Ben” Longberg on Jan. 14, 1950.

Shirley was a 50-year member of the VFW Auxiliary 7285, the American Legion Auxiliary, and belonged to the Women’s Missionary Group at her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ben; her parents; four siblings; infant son Melvin Lee; and sons-in-law Joe Schlotterbeck and John Sewell.

She is survived by daughters, Colleen (Tim) Souders, Carol (Randy) Landen, Sheila Schlotterbeck, Edna Sewell (Todd Phillips), Valerie (Kerry) Dahlke and Mary (Mark) Abraham; sons, Fred (Margaret), Harold (Traci), and Richard (Jackie); 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the Southwest Community Church, 3214 S. Edwards in Wichita. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served following the service.
