The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Vintage Park in Hiawatha.

President Betty Gleason opened the meeting with the members reciting the chapter collect. Karen Benson led the roll call answered by naming a song that gets you moving. Lucille Pennel won the door prize. Hostesses were Pennel and Anne Cash of Hiawatha.

Members congratulated Pennel and her husband B.H. Pennel for being selected by the Hiawatha Chamber and Visitors Bureau as Grand Marshals for the 104th Hiawatha Halloween Frolic.

After a short business meeting, Anne Cash shared memories of past Alpha Kappa members as the meeting’s inspiration followed by Benson’s program explaining the guide lines for expanding chapter membership.

Members present were Karen Benson, Anne Cash, Glenda Foley, Pennel and Ruth Randall, all of Hiawatha; Barb Chadwell of Fairview; Joyce Fee of Morrill; Carol Bishop, Mary J. Fleming and Betty Gleason, all of Seneca.

The next meeting will be held in Horton on Saturday, Nov. 3.
