Greater Sabetha Community Foundation
Buzz Café was the site of the April meeting of the Greater Sabetha Community Foundation. Board members present were Bill Simpson, Von Lauer, Kelly Girton, Kellen Russell, Steve Lukert, Janie Glace, Connie Joy, Marvin Kohlmeier, Chris Tramp, Martin Mishler, Dwight Edelman, John Mowder, Dan Tramp, Bart White and Director Leslie Scoby. Jerre Lauer and Bill Glace also attended.
Plans for a June 19 event called “Celebrating Community” continue and committee reports were presented. This free community event will be held June 19 at the library park. A band will play, presentations and food are planned for the community to enjoy.
The 2020 Annual Report is ready to print and share with the public. Financials showed an asset balance of $4,678,513.47. This is up from $3,854,765.35 at the end of 2020.
The board agreed to sign up a team to play in the Sabetha Hospital Golf Tournament on June 5. Russell agreed to round up a team of three to represent GSCF.
Scoby reported that GSCF continues to inspire area foundations. A match day is planned in Hiawatha in May, and Horton is actively organizing a board with a couple anchor projects planned. The old saying “A rising tide lifts all boats” proves to be true for our area!
The next board meeting will be held at noon Tuesday, May 11, at the Buzz Café, and guests are welcome to attend and learn about the community foundation world.
