GOVERNING BODY: Prairie Hills USD No. 113 Board of Education
At noon Wednesday, June 2, the Prairie Hills USD No. 113 Board of Education (BOE) held a special meeting at the Sabetha Elementary School music room. Board members present in-person were Ed Reznicek, Kent Saylor, Leslie Scoby and Stan Keim. Ann Shaughnessy was present via Zoom. Jim Scoby and Kathy Lippert were not present.
The board members went into a 30-minute executive session to discuss personnel matters with Superintendent Todd Evans present in-person and Axtell Principal Jason Tynon present via Zoom. Following the executive session, the board made three motions.
The first motion was to approve the resignation of Michael Glatczak as Axtell Physical Education teacher. All board members present approved the motion.
The second motion was to approve the resignation of Tynon as Axtell Principal. All board members present approved the motion.
The third motion was to approve a contract with Tynon as the Axtell Physical Education teacher. All board members present approve the motion.
At 1 p.m., the board held another special meeting to interview three architect firms — AHRS, Loyd Builders and Universal Construction — for the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) position to work on the USD No. 113 Facilities Renovation Project. The board first discussed the rubric and the scoring of the rubric for the three firms, and then went into three 50-minute executive sessions to interview each firm. Evans and representatives of Civium Architects were present for the executive sessions.
Following the executive sessions, the board approved the motion to recognize AHRS for having the highest score on the rubric.
The board authorized Evans to begin working with the architect to begin negotiations for a contract with the goal to officially hire the CMAR at the June 14 BOE meeting.
