The Sabetha Bravos traveled to Lawrence Saturday, June 26, to take on the Travelers in a doubleheader match-up. The Travelers would claim the first win by a score of 10-7, and the Bravos would win the nightcap game, 4-0.

Game one

Game one began at 11 a.m. and the Travelers were quick to get on the board first with two runs scored. They extended their lead by scoring another four runs in the third. The Bravos finally got on the board in the sixth inning with two runs scored. Sabetha slowly closed the gap in the score and tied it up at the end of the eighth.

After nine innings, the score was still tied, therefore the game headed into extra innings. Lawrence then scored three runs in the 10th to claim the 10-7 win.

Bobby Galindo led the Bravos offensively going three for five at the plate and scoring one run and tallying two RBIs. Hitting home runs for the Bravos were Galindo and Orlando Lorduy.

Three Bravos – Daniel Castillo, Alexander Garcia and Emmanuel Cabrera – stepped on the mound during the game. Throughout the game, the trio allowed 10 runs on 13 hits, while striking out 10 batters and walking seven.

Game two

In the nightcap game, the Bravos got on the board first with two runs scored in the first inning. They also scored one run in the fourth inning and one run in the sixth inning. While Lawrence managed three hits during the game, they were unable to score any runs and Sabetha would win game two, 4-0.

Takeru Kageyama led the Bravos offensively going three for four at the plate.

Diego Oquendo pitched the entire game for the Bravos. He allowed zero runs on three hits, while striking out nine batters and walking one.
