Sabetha sees increase in sales tax distributions

Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are above last year’s distributions for July. This is according to the July County/City Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.

The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the July distribution is a reflection of May 2021 sales.

Sabetha saw an increased sales tax distributions in the month of July alone — with distributions of $45,260.17, a 14.3 percent increase from the $39,598.14 distributed in July 2020. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is 1 percent.

Fiscal year to date — from July 2020 to July 2021, compared with distributions in the same timeframe the previous year — Sabetha is up 11.7 percent.

With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went up 0.7 percent — from $102,953.62 in July 2020 to $103,630.35 in July 2021. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are up 2.3 percent.

Holton’s distributions are up 4.3 percent, from $65,427.21 in July 2020 to $68,263.16 in July 2021. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 15 percent.

With a local sales tax rate of 1 percent, Seneca’s distributions are up 13.2 percent, from $55,975.16 in July 2020 to $63,340.27 in July 2021. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 16.4 percent.

County

Jackson and Nemaha counties saw a decrease in sales tax distributions for July, while Brown County saw an increase.

Nemaha County’s distributions went down 6.8 percent, from $215,807.07 in July 2020 to $201,187.38 in July 2021. Nemaha County has a local sales tax rate of 1 percent. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are up 5.7 percent.

Brown County, with a local sales tax rate of 1 percent, saw a 3.5 percent increase — from $118,480.56 in July 2020 to $122,663.92 in July 2021. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are up 7 percent.

Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw a 9 percent decrease — from $205,688.94 in July 2020 to $187,129.02 in July 2021. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 15.3 percent.

State

Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up 15.4 percent in July. Distributions totaled $95,659,479.83 in July 2021, up from the $82,906,185.76 distributed in July 2020. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are up 10.4 percent.
