Local women attend style show
Submitted by Anne Moser
“Fall into Style” captured the Nemaha County Republican Women’s Style Show on Saturday, Sept. 18, at The Shoe Center in Seneca. Twenty-seven women enjoyed the afternoon listening to three special guests.
Kenzie Meyer, daughter of Jennifer and Dominic Meyer of Sabetha, read her first-place winning essay entitled “Is This the Country The Founders Envisioned?” sponsored by the Sabetha VFW Memorial Post 7285 Voice of Democracy Contest. This was quite apropos since Constitution Week is celebrated Sept. 17 through 23 every year.
Roberta Tessendorf, Immediate Past President of Kansas Federation of Republican Women from Overland Park, along with her mother Ramona Tessendorf from Onaga, Past President of Pottawatomie County in First District, reviewed the meaning of the Seal of The National Federation of Republican Women, as well as the relationship of our Nemaha County Republican Women to the Kansas Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women.
This was followed by a fun style show narrated and hosted by Wilma Korte and Chris Enneking. The Fall Fashions were modeled by Linda Engelken of Centralia, Virginia Sylvester of Sabetha and Anne Moser of Bern. Refreshments were enjoyed by all.
Committees that helped make this possible were: invitations, Kay Garber, Virginia Sylvester and Kay Frey, all of Sabetha; drawing for two potted plants, Mary Ann Holsapple of Seneca and Janet Suther of Wetmore. Winners were Janet Suther of Wetmore and Joy Cooper of Sabetha; registration, Glennis Lippert and Diane Hicks, both of Sabetha.
We appreciate Wilma and Chris for their wonderful food and hospitality.
