Martha Visser

Martha Lois (Stowell) Visser, 86, of Goff, passed away at Country Place Assisted Living in Seneca, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021. Lois was born Dec. 20, 1934, to Percy and Cecile (Williams) Stowell of Olsburg, Kan.

She attended Oak Grove School and Olsburg High School, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in home economics from Kansas State University. Lois married Eugene Sylvester Visser on Oct. 7, 1962. They resided on Eugene’s family farm south of Riley until 1966, when they relocated their farming operation to Goff, due to the Fort Riley expansion. Here they worked and resided for more than 55 years.

Lois taught home economics at Clyde High School and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. After marrying Eugene, she was a dedicated farm wife, homemaker, gardener and mother. She was a member of the Corning Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Neighborhood Club, FCE Extension Club and project leader for the Red Vermillion 4-H Club. She daily lived her Christian faith and was an avid gardener. She and Eugene enjoyed caring for their grandchildren and attending their activities.

Lois is survived by husband Eugene of the home, three children: Carol (Judd) Meyer, Sabetha and children Darla (John) Dwyer, Scottsbluff, NE; Amanda (Wil) Edelman and Wiliam, Adalynn, Gracie and Harv, Sabetha; and Zachary Meyer, Sabetha; Sharon Lindell, Riley and children Haley (Robert) Dulniawka, Manhattan; Kyla (Dillon) Tittel and Camryn, Riley; Tyler Lindell, Sabetha; and Ryan Lindell, Riley; and Gregory Visser, Goff (partner, Samantha Wichman; daughters, Lilly and Maggie).

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at the Corning Trinity United Methodist Church. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca. Interment was in Corning Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Popkess Memorial Chapel, 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538.
