Cardinals defeat Troy, 50-38

The 10-6 Wetmore Cardinals welcomed the Troy Trojans to town for a Twin Valley League match-up on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The Cardinals held the lead for the entire game and after four quarters would come away with the 50-38 victory.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 11-7 lead, with three different Cardinals – seniors Braden Henry and Eric Bloom, and junior Jacob Carls – finding the basket.

Then, Wetmore extended their lead to 23-11 in the second quarter.

Troy came out in the second half by scoring 10 points and holding the Cardinals offense to just 4 points. However, Wetmore still held the 27-21 lead heading into the final quarter.

Wetmore scored 23 points in the final period, while Troy only scored 17. The damage was done, and the Cardinals would come away with the 50-38 win.

Henry led the Cardinals in scoring with 22 points, and Bloom followed with 15. Carls scored 8 points. Senior Storm Hackler scored 4 points and junior Kyler Wommack scored 1 point.
