Obituary: Francis Leroy Bailey
Francis Leroy Bailey, 82, of Ottawa, died Feb. 9, 2022.
Leroy was born July 2, 1939, near Sabetha, to Lester E. and F. Lucile Kistner Bailey.
Leroy graduated from Morrill High School in 1957. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia in 1961. He taught at Ottawa High School and later in Lawrence Public Schools. He also taught classes at Neosho County Community College, Ottawa campus.
On Aug. 7, 1965, Leroy was united in marriage to Dee Ellen Lister. Two daughters were born to this marriage. They divorced. On Nov. 10, 1972, he married Arlyce Servatius. Three stepchildren were added to his family.
Leroy was known for his sense of humor; he always appreciated a good joke. He enjoyed playing baseball, camping and traveling. Above all, he loved the time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Tommy Servatius.
Survivors include his wife, Arlyce Bailey of the home; two daughters, Lisa Bailey of Chicago, Ill., and Marsha (Tom) Bailey Jones of Overland Park; two stepchildren, Jerry (Marcia) Servatius and Sheryl (Richard) Servatius Brown of Ottawa; three siblings, Marinda (Bernard) Pyle of Topeka, Donna (Gary) McCune of Las Vegas, Nev., and Phyllis (Francis) Sanders of Junction City; grandchildren, Hannah, Allie and Grant; seven step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Private family inurnment has taken place at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kan.
The family suggests memorial contributions to NCCC Foundation, 800 W 14th Street, Chanute, KS, in his name.
