Letter to the Editor: Sabetha invests in the future

Dear Editor,

Scholarship weekend, prom weekend, after prom party… these are the things among many others our community provides for the students of USD #113. We are ending our “school” experiences of our own children so it is time to reflect. This weekend proves how Sabetha invests in the future of our kids and how the community values education. Last Friday in a mere 90 minutes the community gave away $60,000+ to students that will attend trade schools, JUCO colleges, four-year institutions and professional schools. I cannot find another community the size of Sabetha that offers that to its graduates. So for that, we appreciate everyone that serves on a scholarship committee, offers a scholarship or is involved in the process in any other way. We appreciate everyone that presented to the students and offered their time to make the awards ceremony a success. The students owe Mrs. Evans a ton of gratitude for putting the list of scholarships together and making the awards ceremony so seamless. Also, we appreciate everyone that offered monetary support, food for the kids, gave of their time, and contributed supplies to ensure the dance and dinner was a great success. We also appreciate to everyone that donated gifts and time to the after prom party at the Main Event. Businesses and private entities are so overwhelming generous to functions at the school that makes the night enjoyable for all.

We appreciate you!

Scott and Christine Krebs
