Bluejays take fourth at St. Marys Invitational






On Thursday, April 28, the Sabetha Bluejays hit the road to compete in the St. Marys Invitational at the Stagg Hill Golf Club in St. Marys. The Jays played against 12 teams, which include Lyndon, Santa Fe Trail, Holton, Rossville, St. Marys, Jefferson West, Council Grove, Horton, Seneca, Herington, Frankfort and Silver Lake.
The Bluejays took fourth place overall with a score of 362. Taking first place was Santa Fe Trail with 321, Jefferson West placed second with 351, Seneca placed third with 358, Silver Lake placed fifth with 363, St. Marys placed sixth with 375, Holton placed seventh with 379, Lyndon placed eighth with 388, Rossville placed ninth with 398, Council Grove placed 10th with 423, Horton placed 11th with 425, Frankfort placed 12th with 426 and Herington received 13th place with a score of 431.
Leading the Jays was sophomore Cole Grimes, who tied for ninth place with a score of 84. Following Grimes was sophomore Cullen Wikle in 19th place with 91 strokes, senior Matthew Whittaker tied for 22nd place with 92, sophomore Dalton Rokey in 30th placed with 95, freshman Roman Scoby in 35th place with 97 and freshman Caleb Renyer tied for 51st place with 104 strokes.
On Monday, May 2, the Bluejays stayed in Sabetha to host the Big 7 Quad. These results were not available at The Herald’s press time.
