Hanzlicek takes sixth at state, Bloom takes eighth

Four Wetmore Cardinal athletes competed at the 1A State Track and Field Championships held Friday and Saturday, May 27-28, at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Senior Colby Hanzlicek brought home a medal by placing sixth in the 3200-meter race with a personal record time of 10 minutes, 31.41 seconds. Hanlzicek also competed in the 1600-meter race, earning seventh place, with a time of four minutes, 45.27 seconds.

Senior Eric Bloom placed eighth in the 800-meter dash with a time of two minutes, 9.33 seconds.

Other athletes who competed at State were junior Lani Wiggli finishing in 13th in the one mile race with a finish time of six minutes 26.83 seconds; and senior Storm Hackler placing 13th in the javelin throw with a flight of 139 feet, 10 inches.
