The 6/15 issue of the Sabetha Herald identified Monty Noland’s Mustang as a 1964 Ford Mach 1. The problem with that identification is that there was no such thing as a Mach 1 in 1964 and that is definitely not a 1964. The first Mach 1 was introduced in August 1968 as a 1969 model. The gorgeous example pictured is likely a 1969 based on the side scoop and disc above it, neither of which I believe were part of the Mach 1 package in 1970. The 1971/2 models were easily distinguished from both the 1969 and 1970 models, so I’m fairly confident in my identification of this one as a 1969.
