Bravos fall in doubleheader to Midwest A’s

The Bravos hit the road Sunday for doubleheader action against the Midwest A’s in Belton, Mo. Despite their efforts, the Bravos would fall in both games to the A’s – 11-0 in game one and 3-2 in game two.

Game one

The Midwest A’s kept the Bravos offense at bay in the first game and were able to hold them scoreless through five innings. However, the A’s offense was unstoppable for Sabetha. They managed to score three runs in the second, and four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. The A’s would win, 11-0.

Collecting hits for Sabetha were Jose Fernandez, Rommel Perez and Jeison Campos.

Four Bravos toed the mound during the first game. Carlos Trinidad threw the first inning, allowing three runs on three hits and walking four batters. Starlyn Cordera came in on relief, throwing the next 2-2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on one hit, while striking out two batters and walking four.

Ryonosuke Nosaka threw the next inning, surrendering two runs on one hit, while striking out one batter and walking two.

Leobel Capellan threw the final 10 pitches for Sabetha. He allowed two runs on three hits.

Game two

The Bravos defense stepped up in game two, after falling in the first game. However, even with the Bravos recording 10 hits to the A’s three, they still managed to let the A’s get the win.

The game was uneventful in scoring for the first three innings, but Sabetha finally got on the board in the fourth with two runs scored. The A’s closed the gap in the bottom of the fourth with one run scored, and then added two more in the fifth to take the lead and the 3-2 win.

Jesus Espinoza went three for four at the plate, and scored one run. Also collecting hits were Ryonosuke Nosaka and Rommel Perez with two hits each, and Jose Fernandez, Lei Rivero and Anthony Martinez with one each.

Sergio Clemente pitched the first four innings for Sabetha. He allowed three runs on three hits, while walking four batters.

Christian Veloz came in on relief to throw the final two innings. He allowed zero runs on one hit, while striking out five batters and walking two.
