Greater Sabetha Community Foundation

Submitted by Leslie Scoby

The Greater Sabetha Community Foundation met on Tuesday, June 14, with 11 board members, five ambassadors and one guest present.

The meeting was opened with a prayer and minutes were approved. The financials were approved and the board voted to support the Sabetha Saddle Club at the Belt-Buckle sponsorship level.

Marlene Bosworth and Bob Ruddick gave a report about the Neighbor-2-Neighbor program and a new upcoming project called File for Life (FOL). They expressed appreciation for the donations during Give to Grow and would appreciate help in getting the word out that they are available to help families with projects in or around their home.

Ruddick is the contact for more information about the File for Life program, which provides critical medical information to emergency response personnel during a medical emergency. The program is offered free to persons 60 years and older. Through participation in the program, FOL will provide valuable medication information that will be readily available to first responders if it is needed.

Celebrating Community will be held on Saturday, July 23, in the Library Park. There will be food trucks available and opportunities to win gift certificates for food. Music will be provided by local artists who will be given 20 minutes to share their music. Everyone is invited for this fun, family party to celebrate all the good happening in our community.

A committee is being formed to initiate HUGs from the Lunch Lady Angels Fund. These hand-up-grants will be awarded to individuals or families who have a special financial need.

The windows at 917 Main are being used to share information about the area nonprofits who have funds with GSCF. The Sabetha Saddle Club is showcasing the NEKS Rodeo this month.

The next meeting is at noon on Tuesday, July 12, at Buzz Café.
