Brown County Fair to begin next weekend
The Brown County Free Fair officially is slated for Saturday through Friday, July 9 through 15.
Special attractions and entertainment for the fair include a music show by Wilder Horses, a parade, Fair Fun Run, commercial booths and exhibits, and a Pedal Power Tractor Pull.
The Pedal Power Tractor Pull will begin at 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 12. Registration begins at 7:30 p.m., and is open to all boys and girls through 11 years old. Children must be registered by their parents.
The music show by Wilder Horses will be at 8 p.m., Thursday, July 14, at the cement platform at the Horton Fairgrounds. In case of inclement weather, the show will be moved to the Horton Civil Center.
A Fair Fun Run will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 9. The parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12.
Fair events are as follows. Events take place at the Horton Fairgrounds or Horton Community Building, unless otherwise noted.
Saturday, July 9: 8 a.m., Blue Building Project Drop-off starts; 9 a.m., 4-H Open Archery Shoot; 5 to 6:30 p.m., Open Class Drop-off; 7 p.m., Livestock Barn Set Up.
Sunday, July 10: 10 a.m. Horse show, Babcock Arena in Hiawatha; 6 p.m., dog show on the cement platform; 8 p.m., pet show on the cement platform.
Monday, July 11: 10 a.m., Livestock Entered; 10 to 11 a.m., Enter Rabbits and Poultry; 10 a.m., Swine Weigh-in; 11 a.m., Beef Weigh-in; 11:30 a.m., Sheep and Meat Goat Weigh-in; 1 p.m., Brown Co. Shooting Sports Show (Archery and BB); 4 p.m. Fashion Revue Judging; 6 p.m., Public Fashion Revue and Food Auction, Blue Building.
Tuesday, July 12: 7:30 a.m., breakfast by the Brown County Farm Bureau; 8 a.m., Rabbit Showmanship; 8:30 a.m., Rabbit Show; 9 a.m., Poultry Show; 10 a.m. to noon, Eddie Grathwohl Memorial Beef Clinic; noon, Swine Exhibitors meeting; 1 p.m., Meat and Dairy Goat Show; 3 p.m., Bucket Calf Exhibitors Meeting.
Wednesday, July 13: 7 a.m., breakfast by the Everest 4-Leaf Clovers Club; 8 a.m., Swine Show; 11:30 a.m., hot dog lunch from Union State Bank; 1 to 3 p.m., photography, Crops and Weeds Judging Contest, and 4-H presentations; 3:30 p.m., Bucket Calf Interviews; 4:30 p.m., Bucket Calf Show; 5:30 p.m., Beef and Dairy Show; 6 to 9 p.m., Bounce House and Mechanical Bull.
