At 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, Lucas Arnold, a Natural Resource Officer with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, came to the fourth week of Picnic in the Park to speak about water safety at the Mary Cotton Public Library.

At the beginning of the event, children put their names in a drawing to win swim goggles. Arnold had a few children help in his presentation by trying on life jackets to show the proper way to wear them.

At the end of the presentation, Sheri Edelman drew two names for the drawing. Robbie Carnes and Charlie Grimm were the winners of the swim goggles.

The next Picnic in the Park event will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, with guest Tim Kellenberger. He will talk about different fish species found in the local Pony Creek Lake. Kellenberger also will bring a tank with live fish for the crowd to enjoy.
