Obituary: Sheila Richmond
Sheila Marie Trull Richmond, 86, died Thursday, June 16, in Houston, Texas.
The daughter of Elliott “Doc” and Lela Trull was born in McAllen, Texas, on Dec. 15, 1935, but returned to Bern as an infant.
She graduated from Bern High School and attended the University of Kansas. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the College of Fine Arts in the new field of Occupational Therapy. She earned a masters in education from the University of Cincinnati.
She lived in Chicago and New Orleans before moving to Houston in 1969. She continued working in special education into her 70s. The daughter of a veterinarian, Sheila loved animals, especially her dogs. She trained and showed American Eskimos in obedience and agility all over the state and country and made many friends in the process. She believed in a life lived in service to others volunteering for many organizations including Crisis Hotline, Magnificat Soup Kitchen and Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Trull.
She is survived by her son and daughter, Gary Bilendy and Jenneane Cardenas; niece and nephews, Sheila, Stephen and Rick Trull; and grandchildren, Molly, Seth, Sam, Emily, Liam and Faith. We love you, mom. You will be missed.
Sheila will be cremated in Houston and will be laid to rest next to her parents and brother in Bern in a family ceremony later this summer.
