Bravos split doubleheader with Topeka Farmers

The Bravos welcomed the Topeka Farmers to town for doubleheader action on Monday, June 27, at Somerset Park. The Bravos would split with the Farmers, with Sabetha taking the first win and Topeka taking the win in the nightcap.

Game one

The Bravos started off the scoring by tallying two runs in the bottom of the first. The game remained scoreless for both teams, and Sabetha would take the 2-0 win in the first game of the night.

Rommel Perez went two for three at the plate. Also collecting hits for the Bravos were Ryonosuke Nosaka, Lei Rivero, Henrique Marrero and Jansel Jiminez. Rivero also tallied one RBI.

Christian Veloz pitched the first six innings for the Bravos. He allowed zero runs on four hits, while striking out 10 batters and walking five. Bryan Luna came in on relief throwing the final inning. He allowed zero runs on zero hits, while walking one batter.

Game two

The nightcap game had more action than the first. Topeka scored two runs in the first inning, while Sabetha scored three. Topeka continued to tack on the runs by scoring two more in the second, one in the third and fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth. Sabetha only managed two more in the third, which allowed Topeka to take the 13-5 win.

Topeka collected 14 hits compared to Sabetha’s 11. Rommel Perez led the Bravos at the plate going three for four, with one run scored and two RBIs. Ryonosuke Nosaka and Lei Rivero each went two for four at the plate, with Nosaka scoring one run and Rivero tallying two RBIs.

Osvaldo Beltre started on the mound for the Bravos by throwing the first 1-2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on five hits, while striking out one batter and walking three. Sergio Clemente came in on relief and threw the next 1-1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on two hits, while walking two batters.

Fernando Falero pitched the next 2-1/3 innings. He surrendered seven runs on seven hits, while striking out three batters. Rafael Trinidad finished off the game by pitching the final 1-2/3 innings. He allowed zero runs on zero hits, while striking out two batters.
