Sabetha sweeps Atchison in doubleheader

The Sabetha Raptors traveled to Atchison on Wednesday, June 29, looking to bring home a couple of wins. After a long night of baseball, the Raptors would do just that. They would win the first game, 14-2, and the second game, 15-2.

Game one

The Raptors came out swinging to start game one. They scored three runs in the first inning, while Atchison scored two. Sabetha kept tacking on the runs by adding two in the second inning, two in the third inning and seven in the fourth inning, which let them take the 14-2 win.

Multiple Raptors had impressive games at the plate. Marcus Bauman went two for three at the plate, scoring one run and tallying four RBIs. Noah Kroll also went two for three at the plate with two runs scored. Jacob Grimm went two for two at the plate with one run scored and two RBIs. Joshua Grimm went two for three with two runs scored and one RBI, and Harper Schmelzle went two for three at the plate with one run scored and two RBIs.

Marcus Bauman threw the first three innings, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out four batters and walking two. Josh Herrmann came in on relief to throw the final inning. He allowed zero runs on zero hits, while striking out two batters and walking one.

Game two

The nightcap game started a little slower than the first with both teams not scoring any runs in the first inning. However, the Raptors got on the scoreboard first with one run scored in the second. They extended their lead by another four runs in the top of the third, and Atchison closed the gap in the bottom of the third with two runs scored. The Raptors didn’t let up for the remainder of the game. They scored another six runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to take the 15-2 win.

Chase Frey was a force to be reckoned with in the second game. He went two for three at the plate, all while scoring three runs and tallying two RBIs. Jacob Grimm went one for two at the plate, and tallied three RBIs.

Jacob Grimm threw the full game for the Raptors. He allowed two runs on two hits, while striking out eight batters and walking three.
