Bravos drop a loss against Brigade

The Bravos welcomed the Junction City Brigade to town on Tuesday, July 12, for the third meeting between these two teams over the course of the season. Junction City led the series 2-0 and this was Sabetha’s final chance to see if they could top their visitors. The Bravos had eight hits on the night, but struggled to plate runs and the Brigade sprinkled 14 hits over seven innings to take the win, 11-2.

The Brigade scored two runs on three hits in the top of the first to take the early advantage. In the bottom of the first, Lei Rivero took first on a fielder’s choice, advanced to second on a single by Andres Mendoza. Rivero tallied his team’s first run of the game off of a Ricky De Asis fly-ball single to left field to close the gap to 2-1, the Brigade out in front.

Although Sabetha had eight hits in the contest, they struggled to get those base runners in scoring position and were only able to squeeze out one more run in the bottom of the seven. Junction City led 7-2 in the bottom of the seventh, but added two runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to take the win, 11-2.

Kade Bredemeier was the starting hurler for Sabetha and took the loss in the game, pitching three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking one. Ryonosuke Nosaka came in and gave up five runs on five hits, fanned five batters and walked three.

Leobel Capellan hit one of two, tallied an RBI and scored a run with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, and Jansel Jimenez went two for four in his appearances at the plate. Sabetha had four errors on the night, giving up some runs on some defensive miscues.
