Bravos fall to Lawrence at home

The Bravos welcomed the Lawrence Travelers on Monday, July 11, to Somerset Park. This would be a match-up between two teams who have met before, with Sabetha leading the series 2-1. After a scoreless opening two innings, the Travelers tallied a run in the top of innings three and four and sprinkled in four additional runs through the last four innings to take the victory, 6-1.

Ryonosuke Nasaka led the Bravos at the plate, inking two hits in three at bats. Lei Rivero went one for three on the night with a single in the eighth. Jeison Campos marked the only run for the night when he took a base on balls, stole a base and plated on an error.

Lawrence jumped out 2-0 lead after a balk in the third and an RBI single in the fourth. Sabetha answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but that was all they could muster offensively and took the loss at home, 6-1. The Bravos stranded six runners in the game.

Osvaldo Beltre took the loss on the mound and gave up four runs on five hits, fanning nine hitters and walking only three in his seven innings on the hill. Starlyn Cordero pitched 1-1/3 innings, giving up two runs without allowing a hit. Jansel Jimenez closed the contest and allowed no runs and no hits, striking out one.
