At 2:43 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Norma Jean Brownlee, 74, of Sabetha was heading west on U.S. Highway 36 when she struck a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Jose Pinto, 44, of Fairview. Pinto was attempting to turn east onto Natchez Street from U.S. Highway 36 and failed to yield to Brownlee. Brownlee was taken to Amberwell Hospital with suspected minor injuries. There were two passengers in the Pinto vehicle — Erick Noe, 41, and Mario Leonel, 33 — both of Fairview. There were no apparent injuries in Pinto’s vehicle, and all drivers and passengers were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
