District schools see decrease in enrollment
Prairie Hills USD No. 113 has seen an overall decrease in the amount of students enrolled in school in 2022-23 compared to the 2021-22 school year. Based on the official Sept. 20 student enrollment count day, 1,069 students are enrolled district-wide — a decrease of four students compared to the 1,073 students enrolled last year.
The Sabetha campus saw an overall headcount increase of 12 students in 2022-23 compared to 2021-22 — six students increased at Sabetha Elementary School (SES), five increased at Sabetha Middle School (SMS) and one increased at Sabetha High School (SHS).
The Wetmore Academic Center campus saw an overall headcount decrease of 11 students. Compared to 2021-22, Wetmore Elementary School (WES) saw two students decrease in 2022-23, and Wetmore High School (WHS) saw nine students decrease.
The Axtell Public School campus saw an overall headcount decrease of five students compared to the 2021-22 school year. Axtell Elementary School (AES) saw a decrease of six students, and Axtell High School (AHS) had an increase of one student.
Unweighted Full Time Equivalency (FTE) is the figure that represents the student count, before weighting, and is a baseline for determining what school districts receive for operational funding.
Overall, USD 113 schools have increased 0.4 FTE this school year compared to the last, from 1046.2 in 2021-22 to 1046.6 in 2022-23.
Sabetha’s weighting increased 13.5 FTE from 766.5 in 2021-22 to 780 in 2022-23.
Wetmore’s weighting decreased 8.5 FTE from 129.5 in 2021-22 to 121 in 2022-23.
Axtell’s weighting decreased 4.6 FTE from 150.2 in 2021-22 to 145.6 in 2022-23.
