Club News: Brown County Genealogical Society

The Nov. 17 Brown County Genealogical Society meeting was opened by President Ray Thieme, with 11 members and guests present.
Wes Miller presented a program on the small towns of Brown County. Miller discussed the history of the 52 Post Offices that were once in Brown County. He brought old maps of the area and an 1871 plat book.
Secretary Marla Hathhorn read the October minutes and Gail Coker-Carr read the treasurer’s report. The board accepted the reports as read.
The new furnace has been installed by the owner of the building, Hal Ross.
The Santa’s Attic fundraiser was a big success for both the vendors and the Society. The board extended their gratitude towards to member volunteers and to the non-members who helped with the activities that day.
Penny Milroy stated that Website Manager Darren Drimmel will be unable to continue managing the website.
Refreshments were provided by Milroy.
The next meeting will be our annual Christmas potluck at noon Saturday, Dec. 17. A White Elephant auction will be held.
