Students to present ‘Larceny and Old Lace’

Wetmore High School students rehearse for their upcoming play “Larceny and Old Lace” by Van Vandagriff to be held Thursday, December 15, and Saturday, December 17.

Join the madness as Wetmore High School presents Van Vandagriff’s “Larceny and Old Lace” in two performances next week in the Wetmore Auditorium. The first performance is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, and the second is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

Harold Peabody has been house-sitting, and looking after his eccentric Uncle Charlie, who happens to believe he is a pirate, and constantly buries “treasure” in the basement, while his dear aunts — Millie and Gertie — have been away on a gambling trip in Las Vegas.

When Harold hears the local bank has been robbed, he is certain Charlie is to blame, and decides to have him committed at once. Aunts Millie and Gertie cannot imagine sending their dear Charlie away — especially because they know Charlie’s buried treasure has nothing to do with the recent robberies. How do they know? Because they stole the money from a casino! When Harold’s jailbird cousin Mordred shows up with his own stolen cash, and the FBI on his tail, chaos ensues.

Cast members include Jacob Carls as Harold, Hannah Scott as Charlie, Riley Honas as Gertie, Kaitlyn Claycamp as Millie, Noa Rice as Mordred, Kaden Claycamp as Lester, Lexi Hipp as Officer McNealy, Karis Larson as Officer Larson, Weston Schultejans as Agent Klick, Clayton Murrow as Agent Klack, Emma Butler as Gloria, Denis Speck as Dr. Shortanoar, Shannon Tincher as Nurse Widget, Brayden McQueen as Judge Taylor, Kyler Wommack as Taxi Driver and Kristopher Fulkerson as Dr. Pretorious.
