Sabetha City commission: Commission approves wage resolution

The Sabetha City Commission met at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Sabetha City Hall. Present for the meeting were Commissioners Norm Schmitt, Nick Aberle and Maridel Wittmer, City Administrator Doug Allen, Assistant City Administrator Bill Shroyer, City Clerk Steve Compo, Assistant City Attorney Luke Sunderland, and Mayor Cody Bletscher. Commissioner Julie Burenheide was absent. Guests present were Jason Enneking and Megan Bunck. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Bletscher and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 

The commissioners approved the minutes from the Nov. 28 meeting.

The commissioners went into a five-minute executive session with Assistant City Attorney Sunderland under attorney-client privilege concerning Ordinance 1580 dealing with nuisance properties. Upon conclusion of the executive session, the commissioners approved to reopen the meeting and then approved to pass Ordinance 1580 by a 4-0 vote.

The commissioners passed Resolution 2022-24, which provides a six percent raise and some merits for city employees for next year. The resolution passed 4-0. The meeting was adjourned.

The Dec. 26 meeting has been canceled. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 9, 2023, at Sabetha City Hall.
