“Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.”
This quote by Victor Hugo was practiced as the Morrill Tip-Top 4-H Club enjoyed their monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 23.
The Morrill Tip-Top 4-H Club was called to order by President Logan Ploeger. The “Flag Salute” and “4-H Pledge” were led by Michael Tedman. Roll call was answered by “Name a town in Kansas.” Secretary Kenzie Ploeger read last month’s minutes.
The club sang “Happy Birthday” to Elsie Ploeger. Lydia Hartter read a Thank You card from the Sabetha PTO thanking the club members for cleaning up the school’s landscape. K. Ploeger read a Thank You card from the Food Pantry for the club’s food drive donation. Treasurer McKenzie Tedman gave the Treasurer’s report. Reporter Estie Grimm announced that she sent November and December’s articles to The Sabetha Herald.
Leader Jennifer Ploeger announced that L. Ploeger was elected County 4-H Council Reporter, 4-H Days is March 4 and the Spotlight Auction is March 13. Parliamentarian Grimm had the members practice the 4-H Pledge.
In new business, the club agreed that the club donate a $50 gift certificate from the Sabetha Greenhouse to the Spotlight Auction. President L. Ploeger then turned the meeting over to Vice President Hartter to announce the program. She gave a demonstration on how to make “Fired Ink Art.” Brystol Menold gave a demonstration on how to make “Molasses Crinkles.” Grimm gave a talk, “Get Ready, Get Set, Show,” where she explained the process of getting sheep ready for the fair.
Vice President Hartter turned the meeting back over to President L. Ploeger. Meeting adjourned. Will Hartter led the club in the game “Cats Tail.” The Wayne Grimm family provided snowman snacks.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the Morrill Community Building. Keep the cold of winter away with laughter!
