Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are up
Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are below last year’s distributions for January. This is according to the January County/City Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.
The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the January distribution is a reflection of November 2022 sales.
Sabetha saw increased sales tax distributions in the month of January alone — with distributions of $48,069.05, an 11.9 percent increase from the $42,960.78 distributed in January 2022. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is one percent.
Fiscal year to date — from January 2022 to January 2023, compared with distributions in the same time frame the previous year — Sabetha is up 11.9 percent.
With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went up 13.4 percent — from $93,308.5 in January 2022 to $105,818.72 in January 2023. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are up 13.4 percent compared to last year.
Holton’s distributions are up 6.7 percent, from $65,100.96 in January 2022 to $69,466.05 in January 2023. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 6.7 percent.
With a local sales tax rate of one percent, Seneca’s distributions are up 13.7 percent, from $58,820.50 in January 2022 to $66,900.15 in January 2023. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 13.7 percent.
County
Nemaha, Brown and Jackson counties all saw an increase in sales tax distributions for the month of January.
Nemaha County, with a local sales tax rate of one percent, saw a 10.8 percent increase — from $188,711.16 in January 2022 to $209,024.10 in January 2023. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are up 10.8 percent.
Brown County’s distributions went up 8.2 percent, from $113,419.53 in January 2022 to $122,698.04 in January 2023. Brown County has a local sales tax rate of one percent. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are up 8.2 percent.
Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw a 9.5 percent increase — from $166,413.50 in January 2022 to $182,231.67 in January 2023. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 9.5 percent.
State
Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up six percent in January. Distributions totaled $98,297,823.93 in January 2023, up from the $92,741,971.06 distributed in January 2022. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are up six percent
