Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are down
Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are down from last year’s distributions for February. This is according to the February County/City Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.
The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the February distribution is a reflection of December 2022 sales.
Sabetha saw decreased sales tax distributions in the month of February alone — with distributions of $45,217.97, a 3.7 percent decrease from the $46,942.47 distributed in February 2022. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is one percent.
Fiscal year to date — from February 2022 to February 2023, compared with distributions in the same time frame the previous year — Sabetha is up 3.8 percent.
With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went up 8.7 percent — from $113,458.23 in February 2022 to $123,307.49 in February 2023. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are up 10.8 percent compared to last year.
Holton’s distributions are down 2.5 percent, from $73,609.11 in February 2022 to $71,795.15 in February 2023. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 1.8 percent.
With a local sales tax rate of one percent, Seneca’s distributions are up 1.9 percent, from $68,984.67 in February 2022 to $70,327.01 in February 2023. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 7.4 percent.
County
For the month of February, Brown and Jackson counties saw an increase in sales tax distributions, while Nemaha County saw a decrease.
Nemaha County, with a local sales tax rate of one percent, saw a 3.8 percent decrease — from $243,354.26 in February 2022 to $234,051.66 in February 2023. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are up 2.5 percent.
Brown County’s distributions went up 5.9 percent, from $138,101.11 in February 2022 to $146,188.84 in February 2023. Brown County has a local sales tax rate of one percent. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are up 6.9 percent.
Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw a 4.6 percent increase — from $194,313.24 in February 2022 to $203,320.51 in February 2023. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 6.9 percent.
State
Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up 8.2 percent in February. Distributions totaled $117,457,208.45 in February 2023, up from the $108,584,522.55 distributed in February 2022. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are up 7.2 percent
