Obituary: Carrol Lee

Carrol Lee

Carrol Owen Lee, 87, left this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Carrol was born on March 5, 1936, in Holton, the son of Wayne and Ethel (Mullins) Lee. He grew up in Oneida and Holton, and graduated from Holton High School in the class of 1954. He was united in marriage to Ineva Sausser on May 3, 1959, at the First Congregational Church in Seneca. After their marriage, they moved to Sabetha where they raised their three children, Brad, Brenda and Bryce.

The family attended the First Congregational Church, which later became the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Carrol was a member of the Army National Guard. Carrol owned and operated a backhoe business, and later a plumbing and heating business. Then, Carrol worked for a number of years for the City of Sabetha until his retirement.

At one time, Carrol had a pilot’s license and flew single engine planes for recreation. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends. His passion for Jesus Christ took him on several mission trips to Haiti. Carrol’s other passion was his love of family and traveling with Ineva to visit them.

Carrol was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Ineva, on Dec. 21, 2020; and an infant sister.

He is survived by his children, Brad (Melody) Lee of Harlan, Iowa, Brenda (Bill) Corley of Sheridan, Ark., and Bryce (Alicia) Lee of Simla, Colo.; his 11 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Viola Mae Lee Welter of Wamego; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Prior to the service, the family greeted friends until service time at the church. Interment was made in the Seneca Cemetery in Seneca. Memorial contributions are suggested to the NorthRidge Church, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
