Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are up

Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are up from last year’s distributions for March. This is according to the March County/City Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.

The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the March distribution is a reflection of January 2023 sales.

Sabetha saw increased sales tax distributions in the month of March alone — with distributions of $47,178.07, a 24.2 percent increase from the $37,988.36 distributed in March 2022. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is one percent.

Fiscal year to date — from March 2022 to March 2023, compared with distributions in the same time frame the previous year — Sabetha is up 9.8 percent.

With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went up 10.1 percent — from $89,627.99 in March 2022 to $98,705.87 in March 2023. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are up 10.6 percent compared to last year.

Holton’s distributions are up 10.7 percent, from $63,828.88 in March 2022 to $70,671.89 in March 2023. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 4.6 percent.

With a local sales tax rate of one percent, Seneca’s distributions are up 9.1 percent, from $58,694.32 in March 2022 to $64,059.81 in March 2023. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 7.9 percent.

County

Nemaha, Brown and Jackson counties all saw an increase in sales tax distributions for the month of March.

Nemaha County, with a local sales tax rate of one percent, saw a 10.8 percent increase — from $213,508.04 in March 2022 to $236,663.66 in March 2023. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are up 5.3 percent.

Brown County’s distributions went up 10 percent, from $112,193.84 in March 2022 to $123,360.88 in March 2023. Brown County has a local sales tax rate of one percent. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are up 7.8 percent.

Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw a 14.7 percent increase — from $169,385.02 in March 2022 to $194,235.69 in March 2023. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 9.4 percent.

State

Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up 11 percent in March. Distributions totaled $97,278,018.90 in March 2023, up from the $87,625,454.93 distributed in March 2022. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are up 8.3 percent
