Fitted — at the former location of The Shoe Center — in downtown Seneca at 426 Main St. has been remodeled and opened March 25.

Owner Whitney Wilson was encouraged by her father and mother, Lee and Laurie Wilson of Bern, as well as others in the community, to buy and open the shop.

Fitted offers apparel, footwear and accessories. She carries apparel for teen sizes through all ages of women and men in a wide variety of brands, including their partnership with Five Sisters Boutique. Fitted offers footwear for everyone in the family with brands like Brooks, Birkenstock, Under Armour, MIA, Cobb Hill and Blowfish, to mention a few, with more brands to come.

Fitted promotes low prices, great customer service and a pleasant atmosphere.

“The lowest prices possible and highest level of customer service is why you shop local,” Whitney said. “My team here at Fitted is what makes this store so great. The goal for one is to achieve happiness in this life and that is the goal at Fitted — to provide next level, curbside customer service, all while having a good time.

“Growing up in Nemaha County, I know how important the lowest prices possible are. If I find a deal, I pass that savings onto you as a customer. My team provides the highest level of customer service and will be a familiar face as some have worked at this location for many years. I could not do it without them or any of you — my customers.”

Fitted keeps regular business hours — Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — as well as by appointment if desired.

Along with the store, there is a nightly rental above and they have plans for creating an event space, called Gathered.

“We also have a nightly rental above Fitted that you can easily shop and stay,” Whitney said. “The plans for the old actual Shoe Center side, 422 Main St., is for an event space in downtown Main Street, in Seneca.”

Fitted will be having a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting this week on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29. The Ribbon Cutting will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday. They will have refreshments, giveaways and the first 100 customers will receive a gift with their purchase.

About Whitney

Whitney grew up in the town of Bern and graduated from Bern High School. She went to K-State to get her degree in Apparel Merchandising with a minor in Business. Whitney has worked her whole life in retail, whether it was the local candy store, Dillards, Hollister, BCBG Maxazria or Shane Company (a chain of jewelry stores that she was a buyer for approximately eight years).

She lived in Kansas City for a couple years before moving to Denver for 10 years. Then and after Denver, she traveled the United States in her “Minnie Winnie,” seeing 25 National parks, driving 25,000 miles, and seeing many friends and many places.

Whitney moved back to the Bern area in 2020 when COVID-19 hit, to be closer to her parents and to get the wide open spaces that she says she “needs.” Currently, she balances a home in Lincoln with her boyfriend, Dustin Wallman, and enjoys spending time with her Mini Labradoodle, Lexus.

Whitney says she believes that everything happens for a reason and that happiness is largely a choice, not a right or entitlement.
