Art students place first at Highland Community College Art Day

Highland Community College held its 41st annual Art Day on Thursday, April 21. Sabetha High School has been attending this for the past 33 years. The event consisted of an art contest with a variety of art workshops and competitions throughout the day. There were 35-plus high schools in attendance. Nearly 1,000 high school student artworks were displayed. Students and teachers had the opportunity to participate in many activities such as chalk drawing, self-portrait, button making, photoshop, small sculpture and life drawing workshops, as well as competitions in art history and wheel throwing.

The competition was divided into two categories; 1A, 2A and 3A schools, and 4A, 5A and 6A schools. Each school is allowed to enter 30 artworks. Sabetha placed first, Clifton-Clyde placed second and Jefferson West placed third. Sabetha had 14 artworks place.
