The Sabetha Lady Jays welcomed the Jackson Heights Cobras to town on Thursday, May 4. The Lady Jays took both wins in a dominating fashion.

Game one

The Lady Jays racked up 14 hits in game one, compared to Jackson Heights, who collected three. Sabetha got on the board first in the first inning with two runs, but then exploded at the end of the game, scoring five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Junior Laura Edelman had two home runs during the game and drove in six RBIs, going three for three at the plate. Senior Mikenna Haverkamp went two for three at the plate and scored two runs and tallied one RBI.

Junior Alexia Hayden pitched the entire game for Sabetha. She allowed one runs on three hits, while striking out five batters and walking one.

Game two

In the nightcap, Sabetha collected 10 hits, while Jackson Heights only had six. Sabetha scored four runs in the first inning, 10 in the second, one in the third and two in the sixth. Sophomores Halley Mitchell and Karsyn Meyer led the Jays at the plate. Mitchell went two for three, while collecting three runs, and Meyer went one for four, while tallying two runs and four RBIs.

Freshman Chloe Detweiler threw the first five innings for Sabetha. She allowed seven runs on five hits, while striking out seven batters and walking eight. Hayden came on in relief to throw the final innings. She surrendered zero runs on one hit.

The Lady Jays will host Rossville and Burlington on Thursday, May 11, for the final game of the regular season.
