Obituary: Robert “Bob” Moser

Robert “Bob” Moser

Robert (Bob) Lee Moser, 90, retired Civil Engineer and Air Force Veteran, went to Heaven on May 3, 2023. Robert was born on April 15, 1933, on a farm in Bern to parents Aaron and Hulda (Giesel) Moser. Robert was the youngest of five children and earned the nickname “Shaky” while shooting pool.

Robert graduated from Bern High School, played three sports and was ambidextrous, threw right-handed but batted left-handed. Robert joined the Air Force in 1951 and was a radio operator during the Korean War, where he flew over 3,000 hours for the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron on a B-29 airplane. After the war, he worked for the State Highway Department before and then after graduating from Finlay Engineering College in 1958. He started his own engineering consulting business, Moser and Associates, in Newton, Kan.

Robert had two children from his first marriage, Leslie Ann and Bradley Scott. He later married Joy (Brinson, Moore). They spent their years together traveling in a motorhome around the southwest, with a Condo at the Satellite, in Colorado Springs, later splitting time between Yuma, Ariz., and their bungalow in Cripple Creek, Colo.

Robert was a lifelong golfer, creative thinker and enjoyed the company of many friends in Suni Sands RV Park in Yuma, Ariz. He could cobble almost anything out of wood and crafted many inventions over the years, including the complementary nine golf stroke counter. Robert was a great person to know; he made friends anywhere and everywhere he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Loree, Dolores and Don; his wife, Joy; his daughter, Leslie; and step-grandson, Chad Robinson.

He is survived by his sister, Beverly Wenger of Sabetha; son, Bradley (Sarah) Moser of Colwich, Kan.; step-son, Robin (Glenda Kelly) Moore of Lawrence; granddaughter, Lindsey (Brett Lorg) Moser of Colwich, Kan.; step-grandchildren, Brice (Megan) Lowe of Andover, Kan., Mackenzie (Kyle) Linn of Newton, Kan., Jonathan and Alyson Beyer of Colwich, Kan., Shannon (Amy) Moore and Jonathan (Brianne) Moore of Lawrence, Dylan (Keera) Edmonds of Germany, Kayla (Spencer) Hutchens of Ozawkie, and Addie, Kyzer and Oliver Moore of Lawrence; three great-grandchildren, Lexi and Lakin Lorg; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Zander Linn of Newton, Zoey and Zeppelin Robinson of Lehi, Utah, Josie, Asher and Charlie Lowe of Andover, and Rhett Hutchen of Lawrence.

Bob was loved dearly and will be missed by many. Private burial with Celebration of life to be announced.
