Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are up
Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are up from last year’s distributions for April. This is according to the April County/City Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.
The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the April distribution is a reflection of February 2023 sales.
Sabetha saw increased sales tax distributions in the month of April alone — with distributions of $45,797.41, a 16 percent increase from the $39,477.85 distributed in April 2022. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is one percent.
Fiscal year to date — from April 2022 to April 2023, compared with distributions in the same time frame the previous year — Sabetha is up 11.3 percent.
With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went up 12.5 percent — from $84,735.39 in April 2022 to $95,330.52 in April 2023. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are up 11 percent compared to last year.
Holton’s distributions are up 12.3 percent, from $56,175.50 in April 2022 to $63,081.57 in April 2023. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 6.3 percent.
With a local sales tax rate of one percent, Seneca’s distributions are up 2.2 percent, from $55,859.56 in April 2022 to $57,107.07 in April 2023. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 6.6 percent.
County
Brown and Jackson counties saw an increase in sales tax distributions, while Nemaha County saw a decrease for the month of April.
Nemaha County, with a local sales tax rate of one percent, saw a three percent decrease — from $188,648.60 in April 2022 to $182,996.51 in April 2023. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are up 3.4 percent.
Brown County’s distributions went up 15.9 percent, from $103,864.67 in April 2022 to $120,404.45 in April 2023. Brown County has a local sales tax rate of one percent. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are up 9.6 percent.
Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw a 9.2 percent increase — from $157,837.71 in April 2022 to $172,344.49 in April 2023. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 9.3 percent.
State
Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up 14.4 percent in April. Distributions totaled $94,624,619.30 in April 2023, up from the $82,716,211.14 distributed in April 2022. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are up 9.7 percent.
