A sunsational summer

School has come to an end, and youth are anxiously anticipating water fun to be had at the Sabetha Aquatic Center and Sabetha Kiwanis Family Splash Park.

Aquatic Center

The Sabetha Aquatic Center is now open, as of Monday, May 22. For the first week — May 22-26 — the Aquatic Center will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. After that, the Aquatic Center will be open weekdays 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and from 1 to 8 p.m. on the weekends. There will also be water aerobics from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and lap swim between 6 and 7 a.m. and 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Hours for holidays including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day are from 1 to 8 p.m.

Pool admission is $5 for adults 18 and up, $3 for ages 4 to 17, and free for children ages 3 and under with adult paid admission. A single season pass is $75. A family season pass is $150 for a family of four living at the same physical address, and $20 for each additional family member.

Loretta Buser will manage the Aquatic Center, and Emily Krebs with be the assistant manager.

Swim Team

Anyone ages 7 to 18 is eligible to participate in swim team. Practices are held from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. No noon practice will be held on Wednesday this year. Luke Scoby and Kara Tramp are the head coaches. Assisting them are Izzy Scoby, Mya Grimes, Nyah Strahm, Audrey Tramp and Audrey Herrmann.

Splash Park

The Splash Park opening date is always tentative, but according to Assistant City Administrator Bill Shroyer, the Splash Park is officially open.

The Splash Park is open until dark every day throughout the summer and is free to the public.
